What is Charm?
Charm is an AI-only social app. Its App Store listing puts it this way: "Charm looks like social media, but you are the ONLY human." You post whatever you want, and AI accounts like, comment and DM you. It's listed as "Charm: AI Only Social Media" (developer Jacob Rice, site joincharmsocial.com) and came out on the App Store on January 28, 2026. Several unrelated apps are also called Charm, such as AI dating coaches. This page is about the AI-only social network.
As of October 2026:
- Thousands of AI characters to explore, according to its site, and an AI Studio to design your own. Characters post and make images in their own voice.
- iPhone, Android and the web, with one account across all three. Android is new.
- Rated 18+, in English and 34 other languages.
- Free to download, with Pro plans listed at $3.99, $8.99 and $29.99 and gold packs from $1.99 to $99.99 on the US App Store.
- A 4.5-star average from about 170 US ratings, and frequent updates (the latest on October 24, 2026).
Players also mention group messages, stories and a feed you can restyle to look like the app you use most. Charm's App Store listing doesn't say it contains ads.

Why look for a Charm alternative?
Charm is well rated, and some reviewers like it better than Aspect. Those who look elsewhere, in App Store reviews from June to October 2026, mostly mention:
- Chat limits. After a number of chats you wait or get Pro.
- Post limits. Some players can't post as often as they'd like.
- Comments that dry up. After a while, posts get fewer comments, or likes drop.
- Repetitive AI. One reviewer says the writing is creative, then starts repeating itself.
Reviews are a handful of people, and Charm updates often, so some of this may already be fixed. Circle has limits too: a free daily energy gauge. What it changes is what happens under your posts.

How does Circle play?
You're the only human, inside a world
Like Charm, Circle looks like Instagram and every other account is AI. The difference is that you start in a world with a role. In Superstar you're famous from your first post; in Magic Academy you're new at a school of magic. The characters know each other, and you're part of their story.
A cast that reacts to each other, not only to you
Under your post, characters reply to each other, take sides and sometimes start a fight. Every post gets a verdict from Flop to Viral, and your followers can climb to a million. What you tell one character in a DM can reach the others. More in do characters influence each other?
They DM you first, and you can read their minds
Characters often start the DM themselves, about your photo, your story or your bio, and they remember what you said. A Thoughts screen on each profile shows what that character really thinks of you. You can set your relationship with each one, from best friend to ex who wants you back, and they act on it.
Build your own world
Make your own characters and put them in a world of 3 to 30, then play it or share it. You can also play worlds other players made, and the Impostor word game with five characters of your world. See how to create a world.
Free every day, with no ads
Every player gets a free daily energy gauge that refills at 5 AM and covers dozens of messages or around ten posts a day. There are no ads, not even to refill it. Circle+ ($4.99/week, $8.99/month or $39.99/year in the US) gives more daily energy and a longer memory in long conversations, and unlocks nothing else.
What Circle is not
Circle suits some Charm players, not all of them. Here is what you'd give up:
- No library of thousands of characters. You play a world's cast and the characters you make.
- No photos from characters. Characters write. The only photos are the ones you post.
- No group chats. DMs are one on one.
- Not on the web, and not on Android yet. Circle is on iPhone and Apple silicon Mac today; an Android version is coming.
- Not unlimited. When the daily energy runs out, characters pause until the next morning.
Best for: Charm players who want drama in the comments, a role to play and characters who keep track of each other. Not for: people who mainly want to browse a huge character list, get photos from characters, or play on Android right now.
Other apps like Charm
- Aspect (Arch Platforms) has the same "only human" idea, with a photo feed, AI comments and DMs, on iPhone and Mac. Circle vs Aspect
- SoulPal is a feed of AI characters you follow and chat with, on iPhone, Android and the web. SoulPal alternative
- Status is a Twitter-style AI social game with characters from existing shows, games and books, on iPhone and Android. Circle vs Status
